Some of the toughest men in New Zealand can be found on sheep stations or farms. These men are usually the shearers who remove the sheep's wool fleece every year. However for all their brawn and machismo they also have the softest hands on the farm. Their hands are supple and soft, so where do these soft tender hands come from? Each day of the shearing season, these men have their hands in sheep's wool. Sheep's wool contains lanolin, a nourishing element which keeps skin soft and supple.

New Zealand is famous for it's vast amount of sheep, in fact their are about 10 sheep for every person in New Zealand. Much of the New Zealand landscape is harsh and only certain sheep can survive these conditions. One type of sheep well suit is the merino sheep. Famed for producing some of the best wool in the world these hardy fellows can be found in some of the most inhospitable areas of New Zealand.

Aside from their incredible wool, the merino sheep also produce lanolin in their wool. Lanolin is one of nature's great moisturising and protective barriers for the skin.

In order to harvest the lanolin oil from the sheep, the wool is first shorn, then the oil can be extract from the wool. Once the oil has been refined it is then used as a base for this very special and unique range of skincare from Merino.

When used the lanolin oil will provide your skin with a barrier which will protect it from loss of moisture and natural skin oils. It will also help protect the skin from dirt or grime and will help the skin retain it's natural elasticity and suppleness.
